Human Influences
This webpage will provide information and facts on the impact we as humans influence on the Chaparral Biome Humans have several uses for earth's off-road terrains. This dry Biome is known as a Chaparral. You can find out more information by clicking on the provided links located at the top of the page. Each link will provide information on how humans influence this particular Biome.

Fire Treatment
Also called "fuel management". When local wildlife preserve faculty spread fire on selected locations to clear out brush in a field. Not only will this provide more space faster and easier than digging or plowing. It also does not cause as much erosion. Less erosion means less habitats are destroyed. You may think the fire itself would destroy habitats just as easy. But, in reality all the fire is doing is clearing a path. Whereas Erosion tears it apart. When erosion takes place it usually is started by loose soil. Then the earth’s climate takes control from there. So, erosion in a sense, isn't controllable. When in comparison to a natural gas being carefully placed in a selected location, is controllable.

National Parks
National parks or "Recreational Areas" are similar to wildlife preservatives. For the
exception that National parks are built for sightseeing. The parks normally have a
simple monument to recognize the certain area as a national landmark. There isn't much construction done to disturb any wildlife. The main disturbance would be the people that visit the parks. The families with small children may throw down trash or the parents might forget to clean up the mess after a family picnic. Depending on the national park, there may or may not be man-made trails built for hiking and sightseeing. The trails would be an issue. To build the trail would mean taking away the animal’s home and possibly removing an important part of the biome. Say there were a huge 50 year old tree in the way of the soon to be trail and there is no way to build around the tree. So, you decide to chop it down. Not only have you destroyed a home for the animals living in the tree, but you also disturbed the fresh atmosphere by using the gas operated chainsaws to cut the tree down.

Baja 1000 Race
Baja 1000 is an off-road race that takes place on Mexico's Baja California Peninsula in the third week in November. The Baja 1000 allows various types of vehicles to compete on the same course. The course has remained relatively the same over the years, about every other being either a point-to-point race from Ensenada to La Paz, or a loop race starting and finishing in Ensenada. Granted this may be a treat to watch and compete in. But it does its dues in tearing apart the chaparral. As i said before it is held at the same location every year.
